Committee of States (Maine, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont) and Provinces (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, PEI, Quebec), 2008
"Northeast CanAm Connections: Integrating the Economy and Transportation" is a joint effort of four US states and five Canadian provinces to cooperate in a study of common challenges and opportunities spanning economic development and transportation. A study team led by Wilbur Smith Associates conducted analysis to identify and assess opportunities to attract investment and to create jobs by promoting east-west trade corridors and improving multi-modal transportation access that can effectively increase competitiveness and capture new business investment for the region. The project team utilized a variety of transportation, trade and economic databases, along with risk analysis and forecasting tools. As part of that effort, a US-Canada TREDIS application was developed to cover the four US states and five Canadian provinces. TREDIS was used to estimate the economic development and cost-benefit consequences of alternative scenarios for multi-model improvements affecting cross-border trade flows, port activities, inter-modal centers, and access changes. |
