University Program
Use TREDIS in classroom settings to teach transportation economic impact and benefit-cost analysis.

The TREDIS University Program offers unversity faculty and students access to TREDIS as a classroom teaching tool.  It includes:

  • Access to all options in the most current TREDIS release that is used by leading experts in the field
  • Individual login access for each student and professor
  • Access to TREDIS on-line documentation
  • Ability for teachers to set up problems, and individual students (or teams) to address them
  • Access to a special University area of the TREDIS forum for sharing ideas and teaching materials

General Terms. For a limited time, access to TREDIS is available for educational use at no cost for classroom teaching at an accredited college or university.  Educators agree to use TREDIS solely as a teaching tool to illustrate the basic concepts of travel impact, economic impact, and benefit-cost analysis.  Individual accounts are provided with logins and passwords for each student and faculty member in the class. If requested, two web based training sessions will be provided for educators to provide understanding on (a) what TREDIS does and (b) how to use it as a teaching tool. Participating educators agree to freely share their TREDIS-related teaching materials on the web, allowing other educators access, promoting improved education and training across North America.

Use of TREDIS and associated models for sponsored research, or for student-run studies that involve compensation from an external agency, are not permitted under this program but can be accommodated using a commercial access license and with applicable fees paid.

Support. Educators are responsible for teaching students how to use TREDIS and for answering their questions.  It is the educator's responsibility to answer individual student questions about the use of TREDIS applications or interpretation of findings.  A forum is provided for both faculty and students to use for asking questions and share thoughts; the TREDIS team will attempt to respond to forum questions.  Telephone consulting assistance or in-person presentations from our staff can be arranged for a fee.
