WSP used TREDIS as part of its evaluation of corridor feasibility for the Ports to Plains Corridor. This is a proposed future interstate highway link in Texas that will connect from its New Mexico and Oklahoma borders to Mexico. It provides a key connection for enhanced international trade.
The study considered changes in travel characteristics (travel time, vehicle miles traveled, crash rates), market access (to labor markets, same-day business delivery markets, and international gateways), and expectations of new development contingent on the interstate. TREDIS used those inputs to trace how changes in those factors would affect freight and trade flows, and the wider economy.
