North Carolina DOT (NCDOT) is utilizing TREDIS in their Project Prioritization process. A portion of project scoring is based on economic competitiveness as determined by NCDOT staff using TREDIS. The scoring process is applied to over 1,700 projects annually. TREDIS technical staff assisted NCDOT in the development and operation of the economic impact portion of their multimodal investment prioritization process. This included work regarding the definition of transportation inputs and economic outputs (jobs and GDP) associated with the economic model and scoring. Training has been provided for NCDOT staff, MPOs, RPOs, and partners to address general TREDIS use, as well as the transportation and economic impacts. The TREDIS team also developed a process for automatic, bulk processing of NCDOT travel demand data for hundreds of projects that were inputs to the economic model and then exported to the prioritization scoring process. Assistance has been provided to potentially expand the economic scoring criteria portion of their process to include broader considerations of reliability, connectivity, and accessibility impacts.
