The Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies at the University of Sydney developed MetroScan - an integrated transport and land use modelling system for the Greater Sydney (Australia) metropolitan area. This strategic planning system models the impacts of alternative transport scenarios, including interactions between transport and land use, passenger movement with freight movement, and work location choice with firm location. TREDIS-NSW provides the core economic analysis elements of this analysis system.

Three case studies illustrate cost-benefit and economic impact analysis findings from the use of MetroScan using TREDIS:
- a distance-based charge for cars and trucks.
- a reduction in public transportation fare levels
- an infrastructure investment policy
